Do you love big bluegill?
Has anyone used clear or tranlucent baits? In the new winter issue of In-Fisherman magazine, there's a great article about panfish feeding on tiny zooplankton. Though this write up is geared towards ice-fishing, it can be very educational for other times of the year. There are some good looking minuscule translucent lures made by several companies including some that are adding UV coating to their lures. Get the new issue and check it out.

That's the next article I plan on reading.
I'm interested, but not for ice fishing. Last Fall, I was using one of the green LED submersible lights at night to try and draw in some fish. Well, it works, all right. I couldn't catch anything with minnows. I did notice I was drawing in not only zooplankton, but what looked like small damselfly nymphs as well. 'Gills were eating the nymphs. This is one of the reasons why I want to try making some jig-flies with tungsten beads on fly hooks. Use the little jig-flies at night, with the light, and try to see what all I can catch.
OK, in reading the article, I'm definitely interested in these. Once I get some funds, I might just order some.
For me, this is one of those things that makes perfect sense....and, makes me wonder why I didn't think of it before!
