Tennessee News: late night boat incident with 4 injured boaters

Here's something Carl Hendrix pointed out that's worthy of noting. Don't drive too fast at night folks...

WELL;;; IM VERY GLAD THOSE KIDS ARE OK;;;;    FOLKS;;;;  DRAW YOUR OWN--- CONCLUSSION !!

there have been several bad accidents most involving teenagers and young kids.  on norris lake a pontoon boat was pulling 5 kids and made a turn and ran over them all.  when i run at night my headlight is on.

MANY THANKS FOR POSTING THIS ONE LEO !!   PERSONNALY;; I THINK IT TOOK;; GREAT FINISE;; TO ;;; GROUND A BOAT;; AND RUN IT HALF WAY UP A TREE !!

We have driven boats late at night, in shallow waters, through open waters and crowded zones. It's all about attentiveness, and of course, ease on the throttle. Evaluating the photo, that boat must have outrun the headlights they were using, if any at all. Even on my kayaks, if I can't see the buoy 20ft in front of me clearly at night, I won't even bother doing 3 knots (fastest is 8 on calm water), since it takes 15ft to turn or stop properly. To have that boat nearly out the water at that angle, that was probably full throttle.

i know very few that run a headlight or strip led, like i do, around here.  most of the pleasure boaters have to lights except the 2 required.  as long as the headlights do not obscure the 2 required lights then they are legal.  ive run up pleasure boats at night sitting in the middle of the channel partying with no lights on at all.  there are just not enough game wardens to cover all of the water.

in other sad news, the bodies of two 16 years olds were pulled from the cherokee lake in east tn last night.
