Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

So I'll be looking to pick up a boat here in the future on the cheap.  So I need to know what to keep an eye out for.  The ability to hold 2 people is a must, but I'd like to be able to put three in it.  There will also be a child in there more often then not, so stability is nice.

I'm thinking a 15 or 16' flat bottom boat will work out rather nice, but I'm not sure.  Because of where I'll be fishing, I have to use electric power only.

What type of engines work for this size boat?  I think I'd rather spend a little extra money on the motor so I'm not traveling for as long.  The reservoirs around here are all electric only and quite large.  So I'd really like to be able to get where I need to go in a timely manner.  Of course you can't expect it to be as fast as a gas engine, but I have zero experience with these things.

Thanks

It will be fun and you'll enjoy getting to places you couldn't get to before.

Chris, good choice, with a boat like that it's unlimited to the places you can go, my 1648 has been everywhere, I really like running the rivers with it, and it feels safe on the water, I know you will enjoy it.       I think this was the day my daughter said " Dad , I'm going to catch more fish than you today" , I replied " I have never been as proud as to here you say that, that just tells me you are going to bait your own hook"   then she gave me a nasty look.    LOFR

CHRIS GREAT CHOICE OF BOAT AND FISHING PARTNER !!!!!!!!! JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN FISHING WITH YOUR OWN CHILDREN BUDDY...... YOU''LL LOVE THE ALUMA CRAFT !!!!!!!! THEY ARE SUPER DURABLE AND WILL LAST YA A LIFETIME ....

Your right Tootie, I started her off on a cane pole and quill  and she has had lots of success pulling them in, this year she' s graduating to a fly rod and quill , i guess I'll have to make sure the fillet knife  stays sharp.    Oh yea , this boat is a 1988 model.  LOFR

THOSE BOATS AND PARTNERS ARE A HARD COMBINATION TO BEAT BUDDY !!!!! NICE PIC......

that's a great fishing partner you have lofr!!

Thanks Carl, She is a lot of fun, and  she even helps me clean fish , and a crack shot with a .22 , She even want's to shoot a hog with her .243.  I know She will take to the fly rod with gusto. She makes her old dad proud! LOFR

Congrats on the boat! I have a low decked 2011 Alumacraft that we run either total electric or with a 9.9. It's really stable and pretty kid friendly. Looking forward to seeing some pictures.
