Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

What state would you choose to fish Bluegill if you could only pick one?

We are fortunate to have members from all over this great nation...One of my favorite things about Bigbluegill.com is the instant connection with the people that love and enjoy the same things that I do when it comes to all things Bluegill from folks all over the country.....Many of us have also had the great experience of fishing several different states whether vacationing, traveling for work or as a result of moving..... If you could pick one state to fish Bluegill, what state would it be and why? Thanks for sharing and I expect this may be a difficult choice for some and very easy for others.....Again, thanks in advance!

I'll have to look you up Stan.....I go to Oahu often with work and have always treated it as a vacation without gills..LOL.... I'm sure my wife would love to hear that there is a lake on Oahu with bluegill...HAHA.....

A beautiful fish, Stan. I consider any fish worthy, big or small, irrespective
of heritage or breeding. I've just added another species to my bucket list.
The fact it's in Hawaii only sweetens the deal....

Nebraska - it's where I live so it's easy.  There are quite a few great bluegill fisheries within 30 minutes of our home.  Our 9-yr old son got hooked on bluegills with me this past Spring, so the Cornhusker state is a special place for me to fish.

Nebraska for all the right reasons Powder. Enjoy your fishing together with your son. Good stuff!

Any of the new members care to weigh in on this topic.....come on let's here it!

Tropical storms and their impact to the coastal swamps is always a big deal.......They serve to turnover the marsh if you will and deplete oxygen levels and almost always causing a significant fish kill in these areas.......I pay close attention to this and last saw a big one in this region in 2003.......You could be right on Jim.......

Keeping with the spirit of the 2014 In-Fisherman Panfish guide.......they have compiled their top ten Bluegill spots across the nation.......I'm working on my top ten which is a combination of water I'd LOVE to fish someday and water that I have been fortunate enough to fish already........Anybody else care to weigh in......just a little friendly discussion here on Bigbluegill.com.....no wrong answers...........share your picks with us......

Callaway Gardens, Pine Mountain, GA is a pay to play resort that has bluegill fishing that is incredible.  For under $100 per day two fisherman can have access to a nice jon boat with trolling motor and good seats for 8 hours.  Pound bluegills are expected.   And your wife can spend the day roaming the gardens, butterfly house, shops and spa.

Jesse that sounds like a remarkable place. Sounds like lots goes on there.

Callaway Gardens is a great resort.  The boat rental deal is a very small part of it.  It's a 13,000 acre resort with golf (PGA quality course) botanical gardens, I guess there are still two hotels, the Cecil B. Day Butterfly House.  I'm beginning to think they should put me on their marketing staff.  They were a former client

Jeffrey I couldn't answer that being truthful. Love to fish and love different waters and to learn to fish them different waters. I have lots on my bucket list. But for now it only makes sense to say Michigan because of my circumstances at home. I can be in fishing water/lakes in an hour to 2 hours. What I fish is clear water lakes so most of my casts are for distance so I don't spook the fish then be back home by 2 or 3 o'clock. I rarely if ever keep any fish and anytime I can get out is a blessing and Jeffrey you are on my bucket list buddy God willing.

Not the one I live in LOL
