Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I would like to say hello to everyone as this is my first post. I have checked this site out for a while, so I decided to join up. Well what is your favorite boat. I have a 2005 Tracker Bass boat, but my favorite is my little 10 ft Bass Hunter. It is green with 2 seats and it is very stable. I can anchor it with a small mushroom anchor and wear out some gills. I was going to my favorite bluegill hole today and got rained out. Guess I will hit it in the morning.

I fish from my YAK!!!! Feel like I can sneak up on'em better without that loud trolling motor noise and constant pingin from a depthfinder spookin all the Big ones away!!! I guess each to their own!!!
I'll second the yak vote! I use a Prowler 13. Oh! AND my 3wt fly rod! :-D
I also use my yak. Ocean Kayak Scrambler XT. She's all rigged for any kind of fishing but is really great for easing up on the beds without disturbing things. I also use my 3wt flyrod for gills. See pics on my page.
For those of you who either can't afford a Bass Hunter, or a YAK, or even one of those plastic jonboats at Wal Mart, here's a cheap, and good alternative.

The Mouseboats are easy and cheap to build, they're easy to paddle around, and they're stable enough for one person to get into the water. Obviously they're not for BIG water, but don't sell them short for that. There is a variety of designs, and you might find one to your liking.
Cheers!
ive got you a boat, its a 15ft long, 24in wide aluminum boat. yes its a flat bottom, but it can get you in & out of where the gills are.
IF YOUR BOAT IS NOT PORTABLE. WHAT I HAVE IS A 16' 1988 CAJUN. I HAVE CONVERTED IT INTO A FISHING BOAT. I TOOK 1 1/2 " pvc AND PUT IT IN A V SHAPE IN THE BOW AND RAN IT PARALLEL ALONG THE FRONT SIDES. ON WHICH I MOUNTED $3.00 ROD HOLDERS. LET ME TELL YOU YOU HAVE TO HAVE ROD HOLDERS. THAY LET ME EAT A SANDWISH POLES FREE. ITS FUN WHEN THE ULTRA LITES ARE BENT TO THE WATER. TRY IT SOMETIME. I FISH WITH 3 RODS THAT WAY, HANDS FREE MOST OF THE TIME. THAT MIGHT BE A DIFFERENT STORY AT KY LAKE. MY FRIENDS ARE CATCHING 150 OR SO AT A TRIP. LUCKY SOB'S
Since I only have one, its gotta be my favorite. Have a 12ft Jon boat, 40lb electri and oars. I'd like to upgrade to a 14ft w/4ft beam. Then go twin with the electric motors. The bigger boat 'cuase we've all gotten a little bigger here ! The twin electrics to fish bigger water. steve b

This is Jim Michalak's book, "Boatbuilding for Beginners (And Beyond). Very good plans for a 16' jonboat included.
(Might find it cheaper some other site, but it's a relatively new book)
Jim has a number of boats that you all might check out, including several kayaks.
Cheers.
I like my kayak and I can carry 4 rods with me! Depth finder, anchor and rope to hold minnow buckets. Great for ponds, small lakes, creek and small river. I test on 6 inch deep with weeds and its no problem for my kayak!
I enjoy 14 ft rowboat with 48 lbs trust electric motor with my son at private lake for bass, walleye, muskies and panfish!
I fish on shore most of the time for a few hours of fishing!
I have a 16 foot tracker, 40hp motor, but I fish out of a hobie kayak or a 10' buffalo canoe most of the time, where I fish, you can't put a big boat in, you have to have a wheel cart or a jeep, I have both, so depends on where I'm fishing, I use the big boat mostly for bass fishing and crappie in the spring.
I don't like the trolling motor noise, that is the main reason I use the yak or the canoe.
