Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

As excitement is generated with the upcoming Bluegill peak in many areas, I was just wandering if there were any members that would like to share a favorite fishing trip they take every year or used to go as a child that has created a lifetime memory. For many anglers I know, these outings are the cornerstone of their love for fishing....

The bass fishing in the 90s was to great on Toledo Bend not to go....We often bass fished during the morning, fished Bluegill in the afternoon and Crappie at night....We finally outgrew that schedule! Some fine times back in the day!

hi iam new there and this site is the best!!! the most memorable fishing trip is every year i you go down to kentucky lake bridge we would park the car on the side of the road and walk down under the bridge with are catfish rods, cold drinks, some food, and two packs of shimps form wallmart(shimp is one of the best baits for catfish i think) we would cast out about 30ft out fishing 10- 15deep and let it drift down and as soon as that cork would get to the point you better hold on because that cork is going under we would catch around 13lbs fish all day. but now a ship hit the bridge and this will be one of the frist years i dont get to fish there thats a bummer!!

Thank you Clinton for your memory. I'll bet it was a fun thing to do. I us to fish overnight. We would start a campfire down by the water cause sometime it got chilly when the sun went down. I would get sleepy and didn't want to stop fishing so I would take my shoes off rest the rod between my toes. That worked great especially if it was a hard bite. Clinton hope you like the site there is much to learn and seems less time to try everything out. Thank you for sharing.

Jeffrey she probably caught most the fish.

GREAT pictures Jen and Jeffrey!

Thanks Steve, the quality isn't that great on these older shots and I have hundreds of Polaroids that I can't share because of obvious hurdles......Sportsmans Paradise was a great place to grow up and take advantage of all the fishing available.....My daughter wouldn't miss it from the time she could walk and follow me around!

The vintage of those pictures is what makes them so great Jeffrey. Along with those memories.

Everytime I look at your pics, Jeff, I rue the fact that I never took any. No one else did either; I really dont have any pics like that of me and my dad.

Ive never been a real "picture" kind of guy, but you know you've inspired me. Along with some kind of boat my other goal for 2012 is to take pictures at every outing. Thanks for sharing yours, Jeff.

I credit this hobby to a middle school teacher I had...Mrs. Morris would always start Mondays with a picture out of the paper....You would be required to stay silent and either think about the photo or write down your thoughts and share with the class if you liked to....It was only a five minute lesson once a week but I look back to that often.....I have tried to scan some polaroids with no joy....I was on a Polaroid kick for a while in the 80s and have hundreds of them taken right out on the boat..........I'm lucky that I fish with patient people because they know I'm going to turn the boat into a studio for a few moments after every good fish......Ironically, gas still goes up but picture taking and reproduction is tons cheaper now so somebody has looked out for me! It's a lot funner to share as well, so I look forward to your 2012 photos David!

My dad and my nephew Joey with some Toledo Bend Slabs back in the mid 90s......Joey is a sophomore at the University of Alabama now....time flies when you're having fun.......

My dad and I made a small bet on a spring day in 2005......I suggested a certain spot for gills and he thought of another...We settled it with a coin flip and we went to Deep Creek this day and he readily handed over the dollar he lost when we caught countless big gills.....

Various photos of tremendous times back in Louisiana......Crappie, bluegill and Largemouth trips were accomplished weekly and we loved it....

most memorable day of fishing.....TODAY.....got to spend the day with my nephew, only caught 1 bluegill today, but the bass were tearing up the world.....next time we get to go will be the next "most memorable" day! we are only going around once in this world, each fishing/hunting trip spent with family and friends is the best in my opinion! good luck to all in making memories!
