1. Floating peanut shell. The gill hammered it before it hammered my fly.

2. Small piece of the donut over the red worm. Yep..donut before a worm.

3. A nice polished #1/8 nickle lock nut on a #6 bait hook, which I accidentally dropped into my cheese bait bag. Said, "What the heck, let's try it out." Surely enough, a nice gill out of Lake Gregory.

All we have to do in life is pay attention to our surroundings and let nature tell us what it wants and if you really pay attention and do our homework weather  consciously or subconsciously there is a learning experience there. Maybe we have to do a little tweaking and refine it to really make it work, that would be the refining mode which we will constantly be trying to improve upon. No matter how good we think it may be just a little change may be an improvement in either size or numbers of fish or even both. So paying attention is key and we can work from that.

COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF!!!!!!

TOOTY

I once caught a fish in my Pajamas,  "How it got in my pajamas I'll never know"...I'm here all winter folks...LOLRITF

I kept all of my muagury worms out of bottles of Mezcal until spring and tried them out on Bluegill. Heck I couldn't get them on the hook good until there were dozens of Bluegill lined up off the side of the boat waiting for me to drop one in the water...we now called the pond Liqour Lake

That is not what you are supposed to do with the MEZCAL WORM!!!!!! :-O

Greg all is fair game unless it's illegal

I'll start out by congratulating Alabama on their victory in the National Championship game.

As a youngster in the early seventies I began to visit my Grandparents farm in Folsom, Louisiana so I could walk and fish their seven ponds......I often dug wigglers and caught crickets and grasshoppers for bait......On a rainy morning one Spring I decided I would still go to a wooded pond to fish....Couldn't catch any bait in the rain so I asked my grandmother for a piece of "slab" bacon to use for bait....She got out the butcher pack and cut me a credit card sized piece of bacon and we cut it in to little squares just big enough to tip the hook and away I went......People familiar with Slab Bacon understand it's very thick aand fatty, not lean. I got down to this pond and positioned under some trees and sailed out my first cast.......As I cranked on my Zebco 33 the drag buzzed and the hooked specimen began to spin in tight circles a sure bet that a big gill had taken my presentation........A short time later I drug a hand sized gill on to the bank and on to the stringer.......I repeated this effort until I ran out of "fatback" chunks with 21 bluegill and one hard head catfish in the bag........When I returned to scale these gills, my grandmother "Vernie" fired up the lard in the cast iron skillet and as our friend Paul Harvey would say, "now you know the rest of the story, good day! "

Fatback? Salted fat? Man, you guys are playing with something. Looks like I need to test a piece of resin with bacon grease/fat drippings! These fishes will eat virtually anything.

Everything is better with a picture!

Man I dont know about bluegill, but you can tempt ME with some good old fashioned  fatback. I don't eat it much, because it shouldn't be eaten, much. But it is always on my "favorite" food list.

Now, I'm wondering if keeping a little bit in my vest pocket each time out might just be a good idea.

Your right Jeffrey a pictures worth a thousand words.

man that would be awesome in some collar greens with alittle cornbread on da side.. a slab of spare ribs..

ya this ol yankee knows alittle about these god eats.. ahahaha
