Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

A guy at our local hunting and fishing store told me to try a
road runner for crappie. I was wondering if it will work for
bluegills too. If it does, do you work it slow on the bottom
or off the bottom.
If it will work what size do you said to use. The one I bought
is 1/8 oz. Should I have bought a small one say 1/16 or 1/32.
The guy said that the 1/8 oz. will work just fine for crappie.

Picked up a couple at Gndr Mtn last week with Crappie in mind too. Whats the smallest size they make ? steve b
The 1/8 ounce will work for big bluegill. I've used it many times. The 1/12 ounce is a little better for consistently catching bluegill because of their smaller mouths. The 1/16 will catch them all day long. It's definitely one of my favorite baits for BG. I recommend starting them at a speed that is as slow as possible that still is fast enough to maintain the vibration from the spinner action. Black, yellow and chartreuse are my favorite colors. The silver blade is my favorite, however the other blades work too.
You know, I have never used the roadrunner for gills. But given their aggressiveness, I can see how they might be a good option for active fish in warmer water. Have to give it a try!
The pro series with a willowleaf blade works better for me (1/16 oz). Roadrunners catch fish. I caught a 44" muskie at webster one november on a 2 oz roadrunner tipped with a 5" shiner.
I've not used that style of lure for Bluegills... but.. I do know that the World record Bluegill hit something much larger... so might be worth a try..

Surely you don't mean the road runner bird? Beep Beep. I bet you can't catch him anyway. Please explain what you mean
These are Road Runner lures.

Ha, thanks for sharing that
