Do you love big bluegill?
Tuesday I hit a small pond that is part of the brook that feeds the other 2 ponds I've been reporting about.
I saw many yellow perch cruising the shore and caught 1 with a 1/16oz white maribu. Others would just stare at it and then leave.
I switched over to a 2" double rigged soft plastic trout worm. That had the gills going! Worked the worm slowly just under the surface with a gliding walk the dog motion. Bluegills were chasing it and would hit it a lot, but not too many grabbed the hook.
Later while I was working the worm, I see a nice sized gill go shooting at the worm very aggressively like the way a pickerel would come out of weeds for a spinner. Hard stiff hit and set the hook. The fish took a jump. Landed a trophy 13 ounce pumpkinseed!
Lost another pumpkinseed its size on the jump.
Later when I got home to fillet, I measured the pumpkinseed. 9" length by 9" girth! It was a slab it was a bull!

Super fish ,nice report. I'm wondering if you could have turned those Perch on with a very slow steady retrieve close to bottom .It's worked for me before.
Great fish, man!
It's definitely a trophy Seed Michael....nice report!
