These first twenty questions belong to the 9-16 year old group. You have all day Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to answer. I'll check the answers on Monday morning, August 3rd, 2009
There will be prizes for the top four contestants, based on number of questions answered correctly. If there is a tie after all entries are counted, we will switch to a week long fishing contest.
1. What is the scientific name for bluegill?
2. Are bluegill more carnivorous, or…

Thanks for all of the great entries in the BBG kids bluegill contest.
I will attempt to make contact with all entrants before Sunday, July 26 to confirm the entry and give information on the bluegill science quiz.
I will also provide very soon a breakdown of the prize packages.
Thanks kids!

I was just reading a topic about this on another Report forum and it picqued my interest.Along with the propsed Big Gill alliance, Mr Rorer was talking about. Anyhow here in SE Wi, we have a limited number of options, to where you can catch some true giant gills, for our area here in the north. I can think of 2 that are about an hour, to an hour and a half from me.One, I won't go to due to money and just the insane craziness on the lake, the other I try to fish about once a week if I can. This…

Hey folks, Wanted to know on an average, how many days a week do most of you get out on the water? I'm in my early 60's, and still work. Now there's a 4 letter word that gets in the way of my passion for chasing panfish. I've watched the great videos we have here and have pretty much gotten caught up on all of the posts since I've joined. Too bad that panfish chasing couldn't be a career option. Guess if we did that we would be bumper to bumper boats, tangled lines and frayed nerves. Wishful…

I live on Fort Bragg and I was looking to branch out alittle before I leave. Does anyone know of any good bluegill water near there? I fish out of either a tube or a kayak but no boat yet. I also flyfish almost entirely, if that makes a difference to your recommendation. Any responses would be well received, thanks.

Copied from PondBoss forum:
Temple Fork Outfitters has just issued a press release for a new series of inexpensive fly rods that sound perfect for the pond fly rodder.
Who ever heard of a $79.95 fly rod with a lifetime guarantee?
A point of major interest to me is the introduction of a companion Mini-Mag fly rod that is a lighter version of the original that many of you had a chance to cast at last years PB conference.A Mini-Mag combo kit will be available in a couple of…

For those of you with fly rods, try fishing on a full moon at the areas you find the gills on nest.
Went last night in kick boat armed with size 8 3X long seal bugger (leach pattern). As soon as the clouds left and the moon lit up the lake, gills and black perch and bass like dark patterned flies. Full moon is on the 7 th. this month. So you have tonight and tommorow. Fished til 1 am.
17 blue gill later and one nice crappie.
Oklahoma can get warm so night fishing is a great…

Well, I added photos and a pic of myself, I am not the most, photogenic person.I am much, better looking, in person J/K. Anyway, I am not the bluegill fisher I was once, or maybe I never was, but I added some general pics, of a few of the fish, I have caught over the last couple of years.I don't usually bring a camera, as that means a black and white kitty in the boat for me.
Can't have that, but maybe, I'll purchase a scanner and get those in here, when I get extra change to do it.I…
