Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Best friend Johnny and I with a few tanks from This past winter, these fish didn't make it to the surface before they killed over. A big reason why I dont like fishing gills in 70 feet of water

Lake skinner is mostly very clear water with a good amount of weed growth during summer. We also have a ton of stripers and a good amount of channel cats so anglers fish a boeyline at 755-74 feet deep most of the year fishing cut baits like shad, anchovies, sardines and chicken livers for both stripers and channels and these gills eat off the bottom in this area during winter mostly in the 65-74 foot range.guys br ok ng them up fishing cut bait on 2/0 hooks almost weekly so I just assume there eating all that rich protein fish and bulking up. I tend to stay away from that area cause most fish float up and that isn't my goal to kill all these monster gills and I certainly dont want people to see what I'm doing and take advantage of these sitting ducks in the depths. They are shallower like 30-40 ft near a sunken plane. I just know there are 3 and maybe 4lbers in that lake but they are deep during winter and I just dont feel right killing a ton of fish looking for a state record or something

70 feet of water......crazy to think...........I wouldn't know where to start after fishing most of my life in water less than 10 feet..................
