I went snorkeling in a spring near Branford, FL that fed into the Suwanee. Right where they mixed you could go under and stick your feet out in front of you and not be able to see them, turn and look over your shoulder and see other snorkelers 100' + away. Probably no darker, just a really neat contrast.
