Do you love big bluegill?
I have a 5 acre pond with bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. I was thinking about getting a protein based food called Aquafeed to feed the fish in order to keep them fat and healthy. Is this a good…Continue

I caught 4 bluegill Thurs. before I laid my pole down around a post, and went to get my fishing chair. It never got pulled in before when I did this, but it did then. Whatever it was swam all around…Continue

Well it all depends on your taste buds. The bullheads I have eaten were not that good, but then again it could have been the BOW I got them from.
The meat just seemed mushy for a better word.
But that is not to say yours are not firm or mild.
I always say give it a shot, if it is nasty never do it again.
For instance I like Gar, but not too many people have even tried it.
Billy,
How big were the crappie you caught, since it is hard to tell from the pics.? I am curious as I put some in my pond in Dec 2009 and have yet to catch any. Do you know if yours have spawned yet or not?
Also do you think it was a crappie that took your pole or do you have catfish or something else a little more aggressive?
Those are nice, I hope to get mine to that size.
But I will have some trouble with the girls wanting to eat everything the catch.
I have started tagging fish they catch which they find pretty cool, since they get to measure and weight them. I just hope one of them can catch a taged fish back so I can show them how much they have grown.
