Do you love big bluegill?
here is what my paint booth looks like now, kind of resembles a cardboard box LOL. Any body got any ideas for an economical paint booth. Plans for a wood one? I would like something easy to store…Continue

Ok, I've been fishing one of these for a couple weeks now, and I've caught all sorts of fish on it. Bluegill, Green Sunfish, BG x RE Hybrids, and a LMB. Because of the spun hair head, this fly…Continue

Allen you done better than me I caught a hybrid on a chartreuse rubber spider than I made a couple weeks ago aI had a hybrid stripper on but it broke off, shame on me and a hen gill on a black spider with orange legs it was fun especially since it clouded up and cooled off.
Well, I caught 4 Bluegills and a Hybrid Sunnie on the chartreuse wooly bugger with the white saddle hackle. I'm definitely hooked now!
Allen you got the bug. I also and I may not know exactly what I'm doing I'm having fun doing it.
Well, I managed to get three Wooly Buggers tied up last night. All three have Tungsten bead heads, and the bodies for all three are yellow chenille. The first one had a red maribou tail, grizzly hackle. I tied it with black thread, so it came out a little dark. The second I tied with yellow thread, and use a chartreuse maribou for the tail, with grizzly hackle. The third was almost the same as the second, except I used a white saddle hackle.
I wish my camera could take a decent macro shot. I may have to see if my step-son's Ipod can do that.
Hopefully, I'll be able to give them a try this afternoon, using a pop-and-drop rig.
Dude, it's _always_ good to have a BB gun :D
Oh boy. And here I'm wondering if it's worth it to get a BB gun to remove a few pesky Starlings from the breeding pool, and harvest the hackle from them.
Allen, I have had 5 gallon buckets of turkey feathers show up on my door step!!!!!! Once found a sandhill crane in a trash bag on my front porch!!!!!!! Let folks know you are tying and all sorts of critters will show up!!!!!!!!
My step-brother is an avid hunter. I can probably get quite a bit of duck feathers and deer hair :)
Allen, instead of salt, use 20 mule team borax!!!!!!!! I have used it on beaver, muskrat, deer and elk!!!!! Works great!!!! If you get ducks, pluck them and put in the freezer in plastic bag!!!!!!!!
Ok, thanks.
Dumb question, for everybody.
Last weekend, I was over at BPS looking at the fly-tying supplies, and suffering from sticker-shock. I noticed they had some squirrel tails.
I got to thinking. It's squirrel season here in OK. I'm not a hunter, but I probably know a few. I might ask some what they do with their tails. Maybe I can get one. I know the tail needs to be dried, straight. I'm thinking, attach a weight to the tip of the tail, and hang it, body-side up, until it's dry.
Will I need to pack it in salt to cure it? I'd hate for the thing to rot on me. Or, should I just put it in a ziplock and put it in the freezer. My other half would probably kill me if she sees a squirrel tail in there.
