My ole lady thought I was crazy when I trowed the pole in the water but much to her suprise a cool lesson learned. ITS FLOATING ITS FLOATING she replied. Thats a lil trick an old timer taught me for landin those big cats and bass that occasionally bite!

That's a big bowfin! It will break a pole easily! Wise to let pole go and follow it!

Heres my biggest catch on a long pole so far. You wanna talk about fun! WOOOOHOOOO What a fight. I had to throw the pole in the water to keep him from breaking it. Chased him back down with the trollin motor and faught him some more. They call him a BOWFIN!

Heck yea it will work for a pole. You can buy you a $10 fiberglass telescopic pole, go the easy rout and just cut some bamboo. or make you a beautiful stick out of it. Theres alot of work into makin a quality stick from the bamboo. You can get them for 3 to 8 bucks in 2 pc sections or do the work yourself and fish with the pride of I DID THAT! The big ole stocks with the time put in to make a cane brake reef put off great. Its up to how much he wants you to have and how much work you wanna put in.

Sounds like a lot of time ... although well spent. What the bamboo wont work as a pole?
