Anybody ever use these conversion kits? The manual augers are beginning to hurt my shoulders, arthritis in each, and I'd like to go to some kind of power auger. I can't afford to spend $400 or $500 right now.
True, but most folks already own a manual auger. Plus, you can use the drill on lots of other projects. Not so with an ice auger.....it has one purpose. And, both hand augers and power augers come with blades, and they both need sharpening or replacing.
And finally, gas augers need maintenance and repair, proper storage procedures during the off season, and hands that smell like gas or exhaust might turn off the bite!
Gas augers absolutely have their place, but there are other, viable options also.
