Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Slip floats and stoppers are new to me. Can  you recommend what to buy for pan fishing, size, brand, etc.? I went to youtube and I learned how to rig them. I would just like to know what most guys prefer.

Thanks

Eagle Claw rubber stops are easy to use .Put the line through the wire loop and thread the rubber stop onto the line by holding bead with one hand while pulling yellow tab with  the other . .http://www.colgardsports.com/product/eagle-claw-bobber-stops-with-b...

Have you been over here Bruce? :http://bigbluegill.com/group/slipfloating

Actually, no. Thanks for the help.

By all means , happy to share .

I bought 100 of the small size rubbers stops for a couple bucks off ebay.
They came with the wires, mounted 10 to a keeper ring.

I also recycle them by joining a piece of mono to the main line with a low-profile knot, the sliding the stop over the knot onto the the keeper line. To reuse the stop, just rtie the same knot onto your main line and cut away the former keeper line.

You are the king of resourcefulness David!

Let's face it - these rubber stops are pretty cheap.
But I hate to just toss aside something that is still usable.
I call that "frugal" but I'll take "resourceful!"
Thanks John

Here's another use for the stops .Make adjustable spinner rigs with them :

They might also make a good shock absorber to keep the components off the hooks knot.
Maybe above, they might keep the components from sliding up the line?
I don't use these spinner rigs, so Im just guessamatin'...

Actually they slip down  with every hookset or against current sweep .Adjustments are often necessary .But yes they contain the spinner on the cast so as to prevent sliding up the line .It was that very thing that made me employ the stops.Good point about the lower one being a shock absorber .

Another good thing about this set up is if you lose a hook in the throat of a fish on  a snag there is a good chance you get the rest of the rig back .The lower stop prevents the rig from sliding off .I usually set the spinner and the componants ahead of the hook by about 6" and it catches fish well. Best to date with a similar rig is a 4# test 21" Walleye .I had a 2" Keitech 'Easy Shiner ' affixed to the Aberdeen hook .I've caught RBS, Gills ,Crappie, BG large and smallmouth bass on variations of this rig .Great little setup.

We have a float maker's group. Check it out: Float Maker's Bench.

For bobber stops I use 20lbs test braided dacron and an 6mm to 8mm bead. Simple. Tie an overhand knot with five wraps instead of just one.

I make these: Here they are in action:

Very cool Damon !
