Carl you know I love it. Wished I'd have known about them earlier. It's getting to be more fun every time I use it as I get more use to it.

The downsized cricket was a complete failure on my part. The cricket caught 10 gills but about half of them swallowed it. Now its back to the drawing board have to go up one size. The fact that I got more bites and more fish tell me at this time smaller is better but I'm going to have to go somewhere in between my original size and the smaller size. Was happy caught a few fish but the downside is some swallowed the smaller cricket deep. Luckily the 4 larger fish I caught I manage to get the fly out without any or very little damage to the fish.

Master Leo has been drinking California water again to think I could even see something that small. NEVER HAPPEN but I do wish I had the old peepers back.

I see 6in gills sucked the entire crawler (8in long by 1/4in diameter, which is about the size of the cricket), which happens to be pretty darn big. We even have gills attacking the surface lures that as big as half their bodies. But for them not to suck that thing up alive, they're getting a bit testy. May want to get yourself one those of vanity magnifying glass for the smaller job there Dick. Fly tying master needs to get down to size 32 (ultimately rare hook). You can do it.

Leo Its smaller than a dime and I  wanted some hook exposed for a better hook set. If its doesn't work like I hope it will I'll go to a #12. After that well let the young guys have at it, its getting out of my site range.

Wanted to try out the new old Perrine 57 fly reel. Put on one of my tan crickets. It got alot of attention but it was just a little bit on the big side. I did manage to catch 2 gills and 2 bass. I made up 2 downsized black crickets to try tonight. Didn't have any tan 1mm sheet foam so I had to use some black I had. I did order some .05mm and 1mm black and tan and some OD colors.
