Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Fished from shore for about an hour in the NW cove .2# test rig: Pushed way up on the hook ,a small piece of worm with this little jig , caught most of the twenty or so gills midday today .Yellow Perch favored the middle 32nd oz. jig/rig.The far left rig/Jig was very effective after the feed got going .

Leo-The ones with the split shot are really pole floats I believe but i was trying them here lob casting as they get tangled when used with springy rod tips like i have on my long poles and casting for distance .

Well I guess there not just for ice fishing anymore. I guess we can say they are finesse baits when smaller is better.

Impressive Dick. Make sure to place these baby into your all time-go to jigs for the perch.

Interesting float John. How sensitive are those? I tend to use the Thill Shy Bite, which is a hell lot smaller and thinner than those, since the crappie and winter bites are ultra light.

The next batch I make will be on downsized heads  and back to the a larger curved hook so it will look more like waxworms and you can add real waxworms to the mix at least I'm hoping.

Hey Dick -Care to post a mention here of materials ,weights, and hook sizes ? I will say that the nymph style jig on the far right is incredibly durable after most of the twenty or  so fish caught , attacked it !

Thanks Carl-The Thills are the light biter floats (Gills this point) .They work great .Don't cast far but that's why I rigged the weighted foam float too. At an inlet flow this time of year ya don't need to cast far anyway. The Gills mostly Hens and Pseeds were a foot and a half under the surface . Best fighter award goes to the Pseeds!
