my money is on you Keith  making a float out of anything

Keith

Your work is amazing.

Let me know when you start making short ( six foot)  bamboo poles. I'll be your first customer

Hey Joe how about a wild Tennessee cane pole? You say a 6 footer? I'm about to cut some as soon as the weather allows.

You have no idea how happy that would make me. The first recorded  fixed line poles were called out at 6 feet.

What about an eye on the end? How about a handle?  It will need to dry for a little while.

Use your judgement on the eye. The pole will only need to lift fish 1/2 lb or less . I don't need a handle . I was able to make one last year using a BNM pole but the section is only 4.5 feet

keith-you continue to outdo yourself.i had come bamboo growing here i got from a japenese man that had a northen variety.never got more than 2 feet.what would you want for these.that bamboo is really a great color.having seen your work in person pictures dont do it justice.i have some mini cobs from tiny indian popcorn i plan to plant.once i get the seed off the cobs.

That variety is new to me. I really like the color too. Send me your adress and i'll send you a few to check out.

I started the black bamboo floats a little differently I used the joint in the center. I plugged the ends with about a 1/4 in of wine cork. I'm waiting for the glue to dry. The other pic is of what I made while waiting. I know it's not a float but it's it is bamboo.

This is the start of black bamboo floats. I cut about an in on each side of the joint and glued in cork plugs.
