Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Will it catch fish I don't know. I was tying and it seamed to easy so I added some chenille in the centers to bulk them up a little but maybe simple in this case was better I guess seeing will be believing.

Don't know about that Carl, the gully worms were a long  hard tie kept having to keep moving things out of the way. The San Juan worm although I did some extra stuff to it was way easier by far.

just almost on the line of your gilly worm Dicky!!  it just needs a few more hooks;; LOL!!

Good idea Steve, post them when you get them tied I'm anxious to see them.

Look good Dick. I like the idea of adding the "belly".......You got me thinking..... believe I'll tie up a couple on some #10 popper hooks.  The "hump" in the shank will give a good anchoring point to help prevent Jim's twisting problem and add a little shape to the body.

I can see how that would work Jim. These are my 1st ones and I tied them on a curved hook. I can see where maybe a shorter hook would be a little better. I think these are on a #10.

Go for it McScruff I know you can come up with some good ones.. I finally got my Scud hooks after a couple months. Got tired of waiting and order from 2 other places and wouldn't you know it I got them all today so I'm thinking I got plenty #10 scud hooks. Guess its time to replenish my scuds.

Well now I wanna try some!
I've piddled with them in red, a universal color. But I'm also wondering about olive for still water.
Also a black, purple or brown.
Aquatic oligochaetes locust in all waters, and Im thinking to only real danger is getting too big with them. #16 seems like a good compromise - whaddya y'all think?

Jim's right about burning the ends I just add a small drop of super glue. There so many ways to tie this fly and add weight it one of them flies only limited by your imagination.

they hold up better if you burn the ends of the chenille and twist the ends while still soft from the heat.a bead, brass or tungsten can be tied in in the middle of the shank to get em deeper and give them a "wacky" worm action.thats the beauty of tying your own stuff.you can make literally anything.mark sleeper is using a silicone worm thing called a squishy worm for his worms.un like a plastic worm, made from plastisol the silicone is much tougher and stretchy.
