Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

First time poster, long time reader. Love bluegill fishing and it is mostly all I do. I currently use a 7 foot light action bass pro micro light for most of my fishing. I do not use slip floats usually but would like to use them more. Problem is, it seems the guides on this rod are not right for the bobber stops to go through them on the cast. Can someone recommend a rod for this purpose? I am in the market now as I just recently had a long time St. Croix 5 footer break in the door of my truck. I loved that rod and had it for many years. Tiny but a great till and crappies rod that held a lot a of great memories. I do have a 5 foot ugly stick but am not realy happy with it and had earmarked that for my eight year old as I figure even he cannot break it, haha. I have looked at the St. Cross series but not sure if I want to spend that much. So looking for a 5-7 foot, UL for slip float fishing. Any thought?
Thanks,

Dave

What model Berkeley Tony?

John, it's an AS562L. I believe it was $30

nice price Tony  ! I 've been using a  2 piece 7'6" Berkeley 'Trout Dough' series rod  that a friend very kindly gave me .I believe it's a $40 rod .Haven't caught anything big on it yet but pannies feel great on it .A 10" White Perch I caught especially felt good .  The 'Dough ' rod also has a split cork handle like the Amp rod .

i always pick up the green dough series whenever i see em on the rack, i thought that they would make a nice float road the 8ft model i always envisioned as a good carp presentation rod. cool color! reminds me of the glass eagle claw rods.

i have two berkely amp rods tony... what a great rod for the price. they are the seven and 6.5 ft models and are my spinning workhorses. very sensitive for the price.

darren ,got mine locally.cubby mini mite.do a search.the top guides are a little small but i use the knotted string type stops.the kind on straws.they are easy to make yourself.they sell a kit with beads string staws and a knot tool.a lifetime supply

Panfishpro.com says the Cubby rods are no longer made.
That sucks.

i think i saw one in my local shop, have to snatch it up.i only use mine for crappies in the spring.the long rod and long handle with the soft tip lets you pick a lot of slack up and not ripping the hook out on long casts with a bobber and minnow.a very unique rod

i do have a 9ft eagle claw featherweight, more of a noodle rod than a  panfish rod
