Same here Walt. We have them in all of our ponds, but they are especially prevalent in pond #2. I also expect great things from them in the future!

That's fantastic, Federico!

Tony, I have also seen gillcrackers eating pellets, many times.  And, as far as studies go, I read one recently that found that they grow faster than BG-GSF hybrids.  I think they have awesome potential.  I'm fortunate to manage a pond in which there have appeared lots of them naturally just in the past couple years, so I'm excited to see how big they eventually get, considering they're eating the pellets.

Very nice Federico! I'm beginning to see Gillcrackers in a different light.  The awesome photos here on BBG show that they have the potential for superb growth, and my observations from those in our own ponds leads me to believe that while sometimes found near the bottom like their RES parent, they will also take baits from higher up in the water column, reminiscent of their BG lineage.

I have also witnessed Gillcrackers taking pelleted feed right alongside the BG in our ponds, which may indicate they have the potential for further, faster growth yet.

I wonder if they tend to absorb the spawning habits of BG, or RES? I remember reading a study of BG x RES hybrids, I will have to search and see if I can turn it up.
