Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I don't know if some of you guys remember my post about where to go, I ended up going to Tennessee with our own Walt Foreman, he is managing some ponds in his area and let me tell you he is doing an amazing job.

We fished with him for 3 days and all I can say is that I don't know if I can deal with reality back home, we had 3 of the most amazing days of fishing with him.

I think over the 3 days we probably caught between 40-50 BG over a pound with 3-4 going over 1.5# but that is not where it ended, along with these fish we caught a lot of other big sunfish, BG, CNBG, Greens, warmouth, Red Ear, Gill crackers, Hybrids, catfish, Bass you name it.

I really expect to see some fish over the 2# mark in the next year or so if everything goes well for him.

I'm going to post some pictures of the trip I probably have about 100 but I'll just post some o the nicer ones

We had a blast! I can't imagine ever having better clients than Federico and Roberto - awesome guys and a ton of fun to fish with.  I'll add a few pics I took on the first day (before I dropped my camera in water in the bottom of the boat).

Looks like a great time guys! Federico, congrats on catching some superb fish, and Walt... I know it's gotta' feel good to see all of your hard work beginning to pay off... well done!!

Thanks a bunch, Tony!  It was indeed rewarding to see someone enjoy the ponds.  The pond we did the best in was the one that had some sort of depletion event (otter/poacher/fish kill) back in March.  I had seen a few very big bluegill coming up to the food in the past couple months, but I never saw more than fifteen or twenty at a time, and the last time I fished it, in March with the owner and his son, we fished for an hour without a single bite, so I was a little apprehensive, didn't know whether we would catch many fish.

Those are some dandy gills.

Nice fish for sure
