Bigbluegill.com Hospitality scores big in Carolina

Despite all the challenges at home these days, featured member Jim Gronaw took the time to make and send me some great hair jigs and grass shrimp in pink for me to try in my local waters..Been out twice since I received them and it is with great satisfaction that I report tremendous success on the blackwater rivers with Jim's creations......Great talent and a good imagination can create the luck every fisherman is hoping for....Thanks again Jim for the kind gesture.....Here are a few pictures of fish caught on these homemade designs.......

Back in 2012 when I first had the opportunity to fish Jim Gronaw's River Critter collection.....it didn't disappoint!

Thanks for your comments.....As Jim suggested, they look relatively simple but the point is they work great.....no need to complicate things when the basics work just fine.......

Good job Jeffrey looks like Jim makes jigs the fish can't even resist.

Those are some fine looking fish. It is even more fun catching them on a hand tied jig from a friend.

Jeffery, I couldn't agree more ,The folks here are the BEST FOLK around!!!! Are the shrimp patters different from the RIVER "KILLER" CRITTERS????

Thanks, guys! In truth, the Gronaw Grass Shrimp pattern is just about the simplest jig I tie, yet it has been extremely successful for me in my local ponds, Richmond Mill and on many Delmarva waters, both tidal and millponds. Easy to tie, just need some 1/32 to 1/80th round jigheads on quality hooks, sparkle braid for the body and either crafthair, marabou or bucktail for the tail. Not much to 'em.  They seem to work best in dark, tannin stained environs and the pink variations have actually been quite a pleasant surprise. My personal favs are the olive and brown patterns, as a lot of millpond grass shrimp seem to have those hues.

I think Jeffrey is on to something with the great success he has had with the pink this year. I have a few more ideas on shrimp patterns.

Again, my pleasure, and thanks!

I don't mind at all Tony.....Jim wouldn't want us to put anything up but I thought it was worthy....................

Kudos to Mr. Gronaw. This is the type of thing that makes BBG great. Folks sharing, and taking the time to help one another out. I can recall many such instances, from many different members in the recent past. I can honestly say that it's a pleasure to be an administrator on this site, as everyone here makes the job extremely easy. No drama, just a bunch of really good people sharing what they are passionate about.

Thanks everyone. Sorry about snagging your post Jeffrey, it's all yours, I'll butt out!
