Wow, thats the widest extremes, summer and winter. I didnt even know there was a specific bait for pumpkin seeds.

I would think that small baits are what you want. Maggots and pieces of red worm on small hooks (10-16) seem right. Maybe jigs in the 1/64 through 1/100 oz weight range and small flys would work as artificial baits.

I know lots of ice fishermen use ice jigs tipped with maggot, so maybe that is the stuff during winter. Some guys really like the Berkeley Maggot jar bait.

Duane  good post! I love pseeds! Mealworms are very effective on small jigs for these colorful fish! Here is a result of a search on BBG.com with the key word Pumpkinseed . You can see in some of the pics , small jigs and spoons and mealworms even poppers sticking out of the mouths of pseeds. Some folks will probaly favor crickets as a bait. .http://bigbluegill.com/photo/photo/search?q=Pumpkinseeds&xgi=&a...

David & John, Thank you guys for the advice. I have fished all my life, Panfish & Catfish when I was young and then Musky and Catfish later. However, I am having the urge to do some Panfishing. I have never caught a Pumpkinseed and I really want to. They are so beautiful. I am trying to find a good lake in Wisconsin for them.

Thank you, Duane
