Has anyone fished Lake Geneva lately? I was wondering what the fishing is like with the warm winter. Can I catch Pumpkinseed and bluegill from shore? Any advice would be helpful, thank you.Continue

YEP DUANE the process is about the same except now the tips are solid glass. Years ago they were still hollow. Actually the new ugly sticks should be more durable, but they are now made in china. Old wonderods were made in Kalamazoo Mich.

NEver had a new one or an old one for that matter break on me.

HEY DUANE,
The wonderods were made by Shakespeare Tackle . They were revolutionary in materials and construction.

THey had a patented process called the Howald process named after Dr. Howald and it was a two layer fiberglass . The inside layer of millions of fibers were layed out length wise then a spiral buch of fibers wound around the outside full lenth. They were then and still are amazingly strong. Almost indestructable.

The HOwald process was invented shortly after WW 2. Around 1946 if I'm not mistaken. THey were made up till the 70's . THey were made in many different colors and ttttttttttttttttttttthousands of patterns to cover almost any fishing situation.

Acutally the wonderod replaced the old solid steel rods, solid glass rods, and eventually Bamboo as the number one seller of rods world wide. This all changed with the advent of Graphite of course. THere are still alot of us old glass rod users out there, but like me an OLD GEZZER we are a dying breed.
Hope I helped answer some of your questions . I can supply lots of information!

Welcome aboard Duane. Enjoy our site and use it. There is lots that goes on. Look at the blogs and forums. There is lot to be learned here all we have to do is use it. You are now part of an interesting bunch of people who have a common goal we all love to fish and fish is what we do when the opportunity arises . When we do this thing we all love to do we are learning and when we learn hopefully we pass on that bit of knowledge that we learned. There is tons of information for us to fine tune our skills. In the same token don't be afraid to share information yourself it may be something we can use ourselves to help us in our fishing endeavors. Then in the same token if you have a question don't be afraid to ask. Almost everybody here will answer your question if he or she knows the answer and it may be something someone else want to hear the answer to but hasn't asked yet. There is also photo's and even some videos so don't be afraid to explore. I know you will enjoy the site because I know you like to fish or you wouldn't have joined you see the interest is there. Where else can you learn and have so much fun doing it. Have fun enjoy the site and GOOD FISHIN..
