Sorry to hear that.  We have a couple dogs and one of them was a destructive terror when younger so I can empathize.
Mark,
Sorry to hear this but I think you have a very good start on a country western song! Kids and puppies are like gasoline and flame... Gotta love them both but there is sure to be a mess. Fathers day is just around the corner and I doubt you'll have to hint very hard what would be the best thing to make it right. I think the broken pieces plaque is a great idea and save it till your kids are the right age and give it to them with a couple of puppies!,,,,,
that is funny but sounds so true and yes i have mentioned it to my wife and she said to much money right now for fathers day!!  story of my life  lol!!!
I'd sell the dog and put that money towards a new rod.

Consider selling the kid(s), too. No good can come of them, either.

But if your intent on keeping them, do as Bill says and give the rod plaque to them when they grow up. Nothing like a little parental guilt to make you feel better. And dont forget the puppies.

I can see a puppy chewing the cork handle off a rod... (just replace it) but chewing the rod to pieces?  What kind of dog do you have?

You guys may laugh at me for buying my $400+ fly rods, but they come with a lifetime guarantee.... and are replaced for free if eaten by dogs, electric car windows, tailgates, screen doors, or clumsy fishing partners, or all of the above.  Been there, done that.

i said that the puppys has to go but kids are begging and wife is saying no and i have a doberman but he dont touch anything but my sister gave my kids a half boxer and get this basset hound  lol  but know after talking about this some more i need to get rid of my sister!!!

Mark,

If the wife and kids are both against you, well... you better suck it up and call this a lesson learned. Make you some fishing rod racks and get em up off the floor from here out. Message me and I'll get you some pics of my custom designed holders. They are cheap, easy to make and they work horizontally or standing, both ashore and afloat.

One of the best investments I ever made was signing the family, and the dog up for "Puppy Training". You'd be amazed how much fun it is to get the PEOPLE trained. Classes are fun for the dog too. LOL
That is one of the reasons why all my fishing and hunting gear is locked up in my storage froom in  the house, away from my three hunting dogs. My dogs wouldn't chew up a fishing rod, but they would eat a Gulp plastic bait tied up on a line. I don't need vet bills for those situations which can be avoided.
been looking around for a new rod and was going to get this rod(G LOOMIS Trout/Panfish Rod SR6010 GL2) but it only comes in moderate action and i am wanting a fast action rod so going else where, any ideas out there, oh and i want it in a 5' rod also because i wade the creek with my boys and any longer gets in the way

I recently picked up the 5'6" Falcon UL via Cabelas.  I took it fishing yesterday and was absolutely thrilled by the distance it could cast my bobber and the way it handled the bedding bull gills.   It was a pleasure to fish!  Not to mention that it easily handled a random smallmouth that decided to hit my bait.  They make a 5' version that I would HIGHLY recommend.  I have numerous ultralights including several St. Croix rods and I would put the Falcon right up at the top.

FYI -- My rod is rated 1/64 to 1/16 and has plenty of backbone.  It is a fast action - although this is not noted on the rod.  Falcon makes a 4'6" 1/64 - 1/16 rod or a 5' 1/32 - 1/8 rod.  Get one and you will not be disappointed.
