Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Do any of you folks make you're own custom rods for gill fishing?.I started doing this in the 70's and have found great pleasure in using my own hand crafted rods for techine specific fishing. I was just wondering if anyone else does this.

Been think'n about it, was on mud hole .com a while back to get some ideas but still dont know anymore than before, a guy at work makes them, he said he can build a rod the equivelent of a Loomis at half teh cost, thought about pay'n him to lead me around by the hand untill I get teh hang of it.

I make my own, have made several over the years...
You're on the right track with mud hole. That is the place I do most of my buisnes with.Don't be fooled into thinking you're gona get a Lommis for half the price. You will but with about 30 or 40 hours of labor involved.Thats why I don't make rods for anyone but myself and close freinds that I owe anyway. Order a cataloge from Mud hole and they have very basic discription on how to do it in the front. Myself I started on srap pieces of rod and some very primative equiptment ond just kind of got a feel for it. Another good starting point is to buy a book by John Klemens or tom Kirkmen. There is also a cool web site called rod builders .org that has a ton of information.I think once you start you'll be stuck.

I would love to have fast action ultra light rod (even better a 2 piece), it seems every ultra light is as flimsy as a willow switch, I assume they (catalog, web site) will tell if its a slow or fast action when your selecting your blank.

Nothing like the fun of catching fish on rod you built and lure to made. Have been doing this for years and still smile every time I catch a fish on something I built or tied.

Even more fun when you make somthing they don't have.Enjoy this competition every spring on the rivers jig fishing .
I have a freind making me one for the surf rod. Check out his site - mikesrodrepair@optimum.net
sorry wrong one - mikesrodrepair.com
Arty you catch Gills in the Surf ?????
If they bite I will get them!!!!!!! not allway's about one fish it is about how you play the game.
