Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Seems to me this idea has been done here before but I searched "Unusual Catches' and it came up empty .I'll post one now and more another time. I would like to see what folks think of as an "Unusual Catch " and see the diversity of photos of their fishing events. This Fish hit a huge spoon and was caught in the mouth . Is it an "Unusual Catch " ? I think so. Unusually Aggressive!

I think you're right John. I didn't remember the striations on the cheeks being that pronounced on a Redbreast, but I have since seen photos where they were.

Tony-I do believe its all Red breast from a border Lake NY/NJ called Greenwood .

Allen what color was it?

I've had spunky little 5" Long Eared Sunnies hit a Rebel Minnow that ws 1 1/4" long.  I actually saw the fish zoom in, look at it for a few seconds while I twitched the minnow in, then hammer it on a pause.  I love that little lure.  To bad Rebel discontinued that color.

Nice Redbreast John. Looks like there could be something else in the mix....

Nope. I have 4" to 7" bluegills attempted to take on the 3" Rapala X Shad, and got hooked on the rear single hook, and the body's treble hook.
