Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Looks like we may get a break over the next few days, as highs are forecasted to top out around 90 degrees through next weekend. It hit 105 degrees here today, with a wind chill of 106! Never saw that before...... Still no rain though, and none in sight.

Gage and I did get out for an hour this afternoon. The fish were cooperative and we caught and released quite the mixed bag, consisting of Hybrid gills' Native gills, Redears, Hybrid Striped Bass, and one Channel Cat. No big fish, with the gills' topping out at 9-10", as did the Redear.

And no Largemouth Bass!

Naaw...we got a shower this am that lasted about six minutes, just a tease. It is noticeably cooler with less humidity...I'll take that!

Corn that was planted a little later is really sufferin' ...early corn still seems to be OK.

You may have a break now, but we're on the rise. 101 to 103 for the past few days for us. Roasting.

Thank Heaven.... from out of nowhere comes the rain! It's too late to help a lot of Indiana's corn crop, but the soybeans will benefit. Hopefully it will continue to come down for a few hours.

Outside temp right now stands at 75.7 degrees...... Ahhhh!!!

People have been out of power in our region for 10 days now, and that's with 100 plus heat! We have been blessed to not have ours out, and the weatherman is calling for 80's all week long, starting tomorrow.

Nice catch Tony, and Frank...watch the teeth on those bowfin!

BE VERY HAPPY ANYTIME YOU CATCH 9" TO 10" GILLS. I COULD CATCH 100 GILLS A DAY IN MICHIGAN & THE BIGGEST GILL I CAUGHT THIS YEAR WAS 8 - 1/2". I FISHED MY 3 BEST SPOTS LAST WEEK & THE BIGGEST I CAUGHT WAS 6". I HAD A VERY NICE CRAPPIE FALL OVER MY BUCKET & INTO THE WATER. I HOPE YOU CATCH SOME MONSTERS NEXT TRIP. IF YOU LIKE BOWFIN, CHECK OUT THE 2 BOWFIN I CAUGHT LAST WEEK AT THE GROUP BIG & UGLY. WORKING ON A FRIEND? WHO HAS ACCESS TO A PRIVATE POND. TRYING A NEW LAKE THIS WEEK HEAVILY STOCKED WITH WALLEYES BY THE DNR.

We are suppose to drop back this week after a brutal Sunday...I think I know now why you like the ice Tony! It has bumped water temperatures 10 to 12 degrees on most rivers here.....Our heat index may reach 119 this afternoon...Really!
