Went fishing in central florida several days ago and caught 7 crappie and 2 gills. The largest crappie measured 14.25 inches. Its always such a thrill to catch em on a light flyrod. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me. All of the fish were caught using a 1.25 inch Mister Twister Exude Nymph (Moss Green/Pearl color) on a thin wire Gamakatsu hook and a sliding bead head weight. The oil in the skillet will be sizzling this weekend.

I'm new to the website and just wanted to add my 2 cents. By accident I've discovered a very effective rig to catch bluegills with. I slide a tiny bead head weight onto my 3 wt flyline, then I tie on a Gamakatsu C13U Keel Balance Hook #10. I then thread on a Mister Twister 1.23" Exude Nymph (Moss Green/Pearl color). I guess the gills think its a grass shrimp. Works for me. The hook is a very thin wire hook and makes it easy to remove from the fish.… Continue

Evening Tim.....I buy the smallest ones I can find and cut them down...I have never seen any real small paddle tails so I buy 2 inch varieties and drop them down to roughly an inch.....Has worked great for me over the years.....Just keep an eye out at those old bait shops......The fish destroy a lot of these tails so I have hundreds in my bags....Fish will even suck them off if you don't glue them....Thanks for the friend request and good luck.......
Hi Tim, Thanks! I haven't really tried selling my poppers but if I do the guys on this site will get the first shot.
Tim sounds like you have your finesse fishing down. That would be the way I would do it if the fish were finicky that is the best way I know to entice a bite. Thank you for your invite I'm honored to be on your friends list.
tim, here is a website that is for people beginning fly tying
www.flyanglersonline.com i would suggest starting at the beginners section with fly #1 and continue from there. lots of luck!
Oh and on crappie fishing the lakes and ponds I fish range from 5 acres to 100 acres, not near as large as yours.
Thanks for the invite.
