Maybe make bologna "worms?"
I've done that before.

Could you cut the wiener into fork tailed, "grub" shapes?
Comment by John Sheehan on September 1, 2014 at 7:47am

David, I micro'd  them for 20 sec today and yes it helps them stay on the hook . I also like an Aberdeen shank to thread the piece . However I can only catch one per piece so one has to bait up often .Still think I should raise my own worms though .

yes Dick ! Wise words from a young oldster!

Even at $ 5  for a package of 8 and cutting  maybe as much as 320 pieces to put on hooks it's more cost effective than buying worms at the bait store . One can certainly get cheaper hot dogs than 5$ a pack of 8 even .Granted worms are a better bait ,but the Gills like Hot dogs well enough .I got 10 Gills and 2 White Perch today in under an hour on the hot dog spinner Rig . Got two nice p seeds yesterday .

I've heard you should microwave hit digs briefly before using them as catfish bait.
Supposedly this toughens them up. I wonder if it would help as bluegill bait?

When I was a kid not to long ago about 8 or 9 years old when we went to the lake the older people wouldn't share there worms with us so hot dog was a main staple of bait for us and remembering way back when I mean a short while back we caught lots of gills on hot dogs and they were so much easier to put on a hook. Truly many fish have fallen for the old dog.

John, iOS means "i-phone Operating System."
In the comment box, I have no text or picture options while using my iPhone. Ah well, so it goes.

Those ARE nice minnow head jigs Jim has on those spinner frames, eh?!

Looks like the perch and chain pickerel will have a blast with these.
