John you'll see there not a solid color I think this give them a more life like appearance all though the colors are the same they are different shades which helps in a more lifelike look.

Good Dick , as I recall this Crawdad had a striking contrasting color of white/blue underneath the legs and claws

Dick a Whitish blue under a dark brown as in this example of a crayfish (sorry CRAWDAD) may be worth trying. This pic is from an example from my local lake and was a late year coloring .Probably hard to see the white blue on the underneath at  the claws in this pic though  :

Thanks all appreciate all the good words. I've been making changes as I go on these crawdads been making them for 2 years now and close to getting them down where I think they need to be.
