crappies will readily take flies.i throw into sunken brush with nymphs .cat whiskers etc,caught them fishing for gills,now i target them,caught a bunch of stocked trout on foam spiders this past fall fishing for gills.if you see mayflies,throw nymphs  the same color and you will catch a lot of crappies.one more thing.leave the barbs ON  the hooks if targeting crappies they get off barbless hooks easily.

Thanks Dick, the couple I have caught have been on flies Tooty sent me. This pink one and a red and white one did the trick.
