Got Into Citation Swamp Crackers Right Away This Morning…8/17/2024

This was an amazing fishing trip….unseasonably cool for mid August with barely a breeze…..tied a splash jig under my float and tipped a live cricket…the next five hours were furious fishing….

Thanks Bruce….I always tell my family…..if you go fishing with me we have a chance of making a memory..and if we’re lucky it might be the best fishing trip of the year……last year it happened on June 25, 2023….and my grandson Cody shared that day with me….wasn’t 162 fish like Saturday but over 120 with major Coppernose quality….

Thanks Tracy…..this was a very special trip……I have assigned a best day fishing every year  for more than 30 years….barring an unexpected Fall calendar, 2024 will be the first time the B.T.O.Y. will have occurred in August…..I was encouraged when my friend and I set off but that was for a good Coppernose bite with a scattered RedEar here and there…..we arrived at the first shell bed and the rest is history…..162 total fish with 114 Shellcracker in a little less than five hours….I’ve fished these waters for 29 years and this is first time that I had more Shellcrackers than Coppernose…..I told my friend we’ll be talking about this day for a long time…..it was crazy and I fish often all year long

I also believe that a full supermoon during the Summer months accounts for some of the best fishing days I had on the estuary…last year we had a supermoon in July and the fishing was terrific a week before through the week after….
