Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Normally expect the bluegill activity to break loose with the flower moon but we have been very mild the last few weeks and the crappie will hang around for the shad spawn with milder temperatures in the shallows…

We’re amidst our first extended period in the 80s so we should see large colonies of Coppernose on the nest at any point now. I hope see some spawners very soon Bruce….hope you post a few very soon….

I still haven't found spawning crappie or blue gills up here. I don't think I missed them. It's mostly been a below average temp spring. If we get a couple 60-70-degree days they're followed by a few days in the 30s and forty's. We had snow last week.

Thanks Bruce……the crappie in numbers was a pleasant surprise…..but once I saw the surface temperatures down to 60 and the shad spawn in progress….I knew it could be good and what do you know, largemouth and aggressive crappie almost a frenzy…
