definately a greenie,or mostly.they seem to becoming more common in my area and colors vary, the bigger mouth and the white on the edge of the fins and tail.i sight fish for these as they almost have a halo around them, very aggressive ,fight hard and seem to tremble in your hand.

Awesome sized Green Sunfish or hybrid perhaps .I like Adams suggestion of some Coppernose in there but I 've never caught a Coppernose just seen the pics  here .Led Hed- Did it have any fighting characteristics  that made you doubt pure Greenie?

Thnx for the comments guys.

Think your right Jeff. Googled pics of Green Sunfish and there are a few that look the same. I remember them being in the lake but thought they were gone. Last couple of seasons have been pretty stable so they probably got a chance to get a few descent spawns in. Didn't think they got this big - might be a new fishery......

KINDA LOOKS LIKE A HYBRID WITH GREEN SUNFISH BEING DOMINATE.

This just looks like a big Green Sunfish to me.  I've seen these big boys before up at Crystal Lake.  Lake Perris used to have lots of these fish, so many in fact that the bass fishermen used plastic worms and other lures that had the same green  color as the little Green Sunfish.  Never saw one this big at LP before.  Beautiful fish Sonny.

Looks like green sunfish x coppernose. pretty cool. It's got all the characteristics, but with a coppernose twist, big mouth, yellow/orange fin coloration, blue striations on the cheeks, slight pink operculum margin, as well as short dorsal spines. Interesting.
