this is only a little 50 acre lake so i thought it would be a little advanced in the temps. did a deep sonar scan of the deeper breaks and the basin of this little lake first and it was vacant of fish... amazing every fish in that lake are on the shallow flats or shorelines. this was the earliest ive ever fished this lake.

we are in a long streak of strong sunny and warm weather. 80 degrees hot and sunny best day we've had weather wise. i did a shoreline temp reading on a small reservoir on the way home yesterday and at the shoreline it was 65 degs... this same reservoir was at mid 40's April 26 after a string of nights reaching down into the low 20s. this must be driving the fish crazy.

i saw schools of jumbo golden shiners spawning right in front of my boat. couldn't help but tag a few to see what they looked like.

the schools of gills are roaming the shoreline randomly it seems... also saw some crappie sitting in the middle of beds

It seems unbelievable to me that you...in Michigan...are experiencing very similar conditions that we are seeing here in the Mason Dixon with those visible fish moving shallow like that. Spring must really come on strong up north once the ice comes off.

I actually saw gills churning the silt and fanning beds today...May 2...the third earliest date I have ever noticed spawning gills in our region. Some other larger BOW's are still in the mid 50's

thanks guys... really lucked out with tagging a few good ones... the shallows were swarming with gills...  you could see some nice sized ones mixed in with a lot of small ones and running deeper... and of course the small ones are all over your offering before the nice sized ones even notice. i noticed this one on a weed algea edge and had to catch a few small ones to get to it.
