Film has a wider tonal range than digital - while I enjoy the convenience of digital, I mourn the death of film.  Film also has more resolution, and the image is made up of round grains of silver that react to the processing chemical, while digital is made up of square pixels that are impressed by magnetic charge.  Can you tell I'm a purist?  I just love the way film looks.

And, that is simply a fantastic, unforgettable bull 'gill.

If you look at my avatar picture, that is a replica reproduction of this fish.  The scene it's in represents the memory when it was caught.  I added the actual jig it was caught on in this mount.

Troy, it wasn't Merritt though we did fish there on that trip and the fish were on the smaller side.   Ah the memories.

It was caught near cabbage weeds where they were feeding on what appeared to be dragonfly larve.  It was fooled by a vertical Genz Worm with one wax worm tipped on the end of the hook.

It measured 12-inches and was utilized to the max.

You said you caught it near Valentine Neb, it wasn't Merritt Reservoir by any chance was it? We drove from Southern Indiana all the way to Merritt Reservoir when I was in 7th grade to go fishing because my uncle read an article on it in one of the big magazines back then. We caught tons of fish but nothing huge. I just remember the sand hills, wind mills and storms coming from 30 miles away that you could some how still see.

Walt has an eye for media, no doubt.  I would have never picked up on the fact that picture was originally a traditional film photo.  I'm impressed.  :-)

Tim that's a beauty. What a prize to catch through the ice, that's a prizes anyway you catch it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Fish like this are so cool.  Great job to your friend, and you, Tim.

Nice guess Walt.  It's a 35mm photo that my printer would not scan to my computer :(

So I took a digital picture of the photo and down loaded it.

This is one I'm holding a few years ago. My buddy and I were ice fishing together near the town of Valentine. You could fish with 6 rigs at that time, he had 6 down I had 4.  We were only about 2 yards from each other and he scored with the odds in his favor.

You surely must be kidding me Jeff !?!?   LOL!
