Charlie it is, then. I need to ask what sort of pains and brushes you use to achieve the smooth finishes. Ive tinkered a bit since you inspired me and my results are kinda crude - possibly effective, but crude.

And the eyes - do you make them with the dip and dot method?

I don't use my magnifiers much, but the lights on them are important when I paint.

All the bodies are shaped from balsawood.I do tie flies with other materials, and for the last couple of weeks have be working with Basswood.

Call me Charlie, I'm also known as "balsa fly rod lures."

What sort of magnifier do you use, Charles?

I saw in another post you said the bodies were balsa - is that right, Charles?

Are the bodies balsa? I have a quantity of the stuff....

Dick,      I shape all of the bodies myself, painting is done by dipping, brush and other tools I've made over the years.

David ,     Copy all you like. Each of these flies has a glass rattle inserted. The largest is on a #4 ck52s.These are fished either top water or on a sinking line.

I like the decorating/finishes. They look convincing, for sure.

Mind if I copy a few?
