I just bought a new Pumpkinseed set up.

I just bought a new Pumpkinseed reel and combos for the whole family. I got the girls Pink, my nephew Orange and me Silver.

Master Roddy Hunter 2 - Pc. Spinning Combo lights up the lake! Literally! Lights mounted on each side of the reel produce an eye-catching circular display as the reel handle is turned. But this Combo is FAR from a gimmick... it has what it takes to land the lunker on fresh or salt water. Features a silver rod and matching pre-spooled graphite reel. From the boat, shore or dock, light it up with this Spinning Combo! Reel: 3 ball bearing for smooth retrieval-right or left-handed; 5.1:1 gear ratio; Front drag. Rod: EVA foam handles; Graphite reel seat; 2-Pc. graphite construction; Diamond wrap. Length: 5'6"; Action: Light; Line Weight(lbs.): 6-12. Master Roddy Hunter 2 - Pc. Spinning Combo 5'6".

This one is also a beautiful fish! Aquarium is right!

well i'll be damned they are longears. i almost put one back in my aquarium, glad i didn't. all the old timers down here say they're long gone. my dad used to eat them back in the sixties from that stretch of creek thinking that they were pumpkinseeds.

I take it back my Pseed does have red eyes .Others I've caught don't .But still the Jet black long ear flap on yours differs from this fish .The blue fin tingeing on your fish and not mine makes it a different species to me .

Yes Jacob I think it's a Long Eared Sunfish not a Pumpkinseed at least as I know it .PSeeds I dont believe sport the Blue tinge on the fins ,jet black long ear and red eyes .But hey maybe folks in different regions of the country hav pet names and Pumpkinseed applies in your area. Here is a Pumpkinsed from NJ and note it has a red spot on the ear ,no Bluetinged fins and no red eyes .The eyes are blackish . Get other opinions though don't count on just mine! Love your fish ! Wish I could see them up close! Catch one for that matter . So it's a creek fish huh !Hmmm!

thank you so much. are you sure that it's a long eared sunfish and not a regular pumpkinseed? i really apologize but i don't have any other good pictures, but i did catch more. i will post those. a huge flood and mild weather made for a huge spawn last spring/summer in the SE indiana creek i was fishing.
