A good way to find ponds 7 Replies

I'll admit, I'm lazy.  Why expend a lot of effort and gas trying to find ponds, when all you have to do is open up Google Earth, zoom in on your area, and start looking?I know that I've found a LOT…Continue

Ken, that's not a pond. That's a freaking lake. Great satellite overview.

HEY KEN love that areal shot of this pond and thanks for posting it ...Good luck there with this pond and a note on the weather here, SSSSSSSSSNOWING AS WE LOOK OUT THE WINDOW NOW ......

thanks for the add.. this is one avenue i have done little in... is pond fishing. i did a little exploratory mapping and came up wit alot of natural ponds on state land. i found one that interests me in particular. this five acre pond is surrounded by state land and buts up against a dirt rode with a clearing that may be suitable for a natural shore launch for jon boat or kayak. a stream passes through joining a string of lakes. others with more difficult access. kayak?

im going to try this within the next few days if the weather doesn't totally turn sour

Thanks Tooty. My county doesn't have an online plat resource, so I'll have to take a  trip to the county seat for that. Or do as some others suggest and just go banging on doors

THATS' EASY DAVID , GET A COUNTY PLATTE BOOK AND OWNERS WILL BE LISTED THERE .......

Start with the map Tooty. Topos are nice. Do you have a smartphone?

I can recommend a free app that uses topo maps to help you locate and log fishing spots.

Just let me know.
