I really liked the floro for ice fishing… came off the spool nice and sank quick… until I lost a trophy Y.Perch and a 16” plus B.Crappie on it just days apart! Going to 4# test meant bigger lures and less bites… so at that point I went back to my coated ice braids. Just personal preference.

Slip Sinker, thinness does make a difference is visibility, no doubt, but fluorocarbon lines ARE more difficult to see in water than either mono or braid. Those refractive index metrics are real. It does depend on water clarity, I am sure. And, fluorocarbon lines are not as elastic as most monofilaments. The most elastic mono I have ever seen is that red Cajun line strung on Zebco reels. Wow! There is a difference between "plasticity" and "elasticity." The latter might describe a rubber band . . . or mono. Fluorocarbon lines do stretch, but they don't recede, sort of stay elongated. Plasticity. I suppose an analogy would be a stick of chewing gum: you can pull it but it won't return to its pre-stretched shape, not totally. Anyway, fluorocarbon is great for fishing in extreme weather, for its longevity since it is unaffected by freezing or sun, for being the hardest to see in clear water and for presentations where you want your line to sink faster.  Brad

...I read somewhere there is really no visibility advantage/disadvantage when it comes to any type of line, except thinness. That fluorocarbon claims there is invisibility in the water column but is truly not the case. Visibility goes by line thickness which is the articles claim… I'm currently trying to find the article.

I like fluorocarbon properties on a bait caster and that’s about it because of the way it comes off the spool. It is more sensitive than mono because of its denser molecular structure but stretches more than mono.

Floro coated mono may not offer any advantage at all in stealth except corporate profits.

This is based on what I have read and mentally retained… I hope I can back it up ;>) … but for right now I’m rigging up for a Major period on 100% day.

In either case John… if you do decide on the line a review for the members would be nice.

Forget picking lines. I have to bring an extra specialized container to store bird nests of lines that I fished out of the water, and the banks. Irresponsible anglers are abundant, and they don't give a crap about the local waterbodies. This is why I talked loudly to my kids around anglers and their families, teaching about what's right, and what's wrong. Those who do wrong got irritated. Those who agreed nodded their heads and smiled, but never had the guts to talk loudly and bluntly like I did. I have the "I don't give a crap what you think" mentality.

...i hear ya John... the thing is 3$ scissors are available nowadays at any bait shop... if someone finds it necessary to dispose of in the field wrap it around your fingers in a coil and cut it into tiny sections. last time i went to the bridge i nearly tripped over what looked like at least 20# mono.

It sure got great reviews, John. Give it a try. Personally, I don't like to use fluorocarbon because it doesn't degrade. You strike me as very responsible, but there are a lot of guys that just throw it in the weeds and forget about it.

Got a plug in a tree thought it was a goner but i yanked it out .Glad I was using 8# test strong Pline
