Ya I hear ya. One of my 4yrold grandbaby just had to use the net yesterday when I was fishing. Caught a little 10" bass. Holding her to keep her from falling in trying to move my rod to get it in her net lmao final got it in the net her backup the bank. All the time she's telling me " I'll help you pawpaw I'll help you" Just don't get better them that.

I've ordered netting to build holding pens for the small fish I buy and as soon as the ground is dry enough I'm going to put in about 30+yards of pea gravel in the shallow end of my pond. I will have to check on those 6" gills here to see if I can get some to stock. Thank you for that advice. Going to stock coppernose, redear, and more carp. I am getting my small pond ready to stock with fat head minnow, as this pond flows over into my main pond when it rains. Hope this will give me an unending supply of minnows to the main pond. Experiment I wanted to try. Ordered a 16 inch by three foot culvert, steel coated with tar, and will pack gravel around it. Hope this, with the netting over the end will end my fish loss problem to some extent. Ponds can sure get expensive, but worth every dime to watch my grandchildren pulling out fish.

Man Billy I hate to hear that. Man that sucks. Will good luck on the start over. I guess right now would be a good time to start stocking if you had too. They tell me 6” gills will spawn at that size. Down here they are $85.00 per hundred. Again I know that sucks. Keep us posted on how thing are going. Ya I added the overflow pipe with netting too.

With record rainfall this year my pond flooded out twice and now I am back to square one. All those fish I stocked seem to have migrated to the ponds down from me. I also found fish carcasses everywhere on the back of my property. Big red line in my journal on my pond and start over......... First thing on list is to install secondary culvert overflows with screening to save some of my fish. Feeding my fish and still have quite a few BG coming up, but no carp or catfish at all. And the number of BG is about a tenth of what I'm used to seeing at feeding time....... Guess the fishery will be happy to see me.

JigNPig's results are exceptional, that is for sure.

ROFLMAO I hear you about plans. I'm writing everything down in pencil that way I can change it when it happens
All I want is a pond like jignpig then I'll be happy.

There you go! Haha. Getting a pump maybe as soon as this weekend to get it all out of there. Then I'm going to break that spillway there in the background so I don't have to deal with that again. That's the plan anyway. One thing I've learned about pond building is that 'plan' is a very loose term.

Pond Boss form is a great resource for anyone building or managing a pond.
I know that for some of us it’s a little hard to find just what you’re looking for.
I have found that if you use the search link it helps a little. Lol
The one most important thing I’ve read is to keep record of what you’re doing.
Fish size at stocking, number caught and size, feeding when how often ans so on.
Post what your pond records are. Help an old dog.
I’m just waiting to see pictures of Josh (Omaha) pond with water in it. LOL
Looking toward spawning time to see what success it’ll bring
Larry all the fake plants came from hobby Lobby lmao

Crappie breed like rabbitt. They'll take over a pond quickly. Eat the food and so on. They tell me crappie should not be stocked in a pond small them 10 acres.
Might check other but that what I'm told.
And you can't shoot the Cormorant. It's the law
