Ah. I haven't had any problems with Amazon and I have a BP and Cabelas that I can walk in to. Probably just a fluke. Try calling BP or Cabelas.

NO, I couldn't order from pb or Cabela's for some reason. Amazon is what I used, SportPro was the company

Sharon, have you tried Amazon? Can't believe BP and Cabela's dropped the ball. Sorry to hear that.

Rick, have you posted pics of these "pvc bundles"? What are they?

I can't believe it!!!! Circle hooks are not sold ANYWHERE nearby, so I ordered them. After two weeks they sent me ordinary hooks. Complained, they sent some more. They are the wrong hooks too. Anyone have a better store to shop online at? BassPro, and Cabelas I had a problem with ordering, though by now I can't remember what it was, lol

Looks like the weather is finally going to give me a spring. Mid 70’s the next 10 days with a little rain on Thursday. With the daylight saving time I can fish a little and work on my pond in the afternoon. I’ve been adding pvc bundles for hadatit and pouring the algaecide to it too. With this warmer weather I hope the gills will start spawning. I read they will if they are 6” long and up. Spawning should start with water temp. over 65 degree and every full moon. Here in south Texas I don’t think we’ll see any cold weather till November or even December. The Bass are everywhere. I can fish the middle, band or the shallow end and catch a 10 to 12” Bass. I don’t look for much of a spawning from the bass in my pond until next year. Tadpole and minnow are all over the bank and the hybrid gills are right there on them.
Now fishing.
I get to wet a hook a little each day just to see how they are growing. Again the bass range from 9” to 12” and the gills 5 to 7”. I use FHM for bait. It’s what they feed on so it makes it easy to fish and catch with. As you might have seen on some of my pictures I’m using a small “C” hook and a # 10 crappie hook.
TILAPIA
Still think this issue. Right now they month away from being available any way. With 85 percent of my gills being the hybrid and the way they are hitting and feed on the FHM the small tilapia fries would be a good food source for both my gills and the bass. With them feeding on the vegetation and the pellet feed I don’t see them being an impact until next spring. And if the weather next year is any where close to this year they might not even be an issue next year. Again still thinking and reading this out.
Hope everyone spring brings them a stringer full of fish. Tell me what you are up to.

I live in south Texas 40 miles north of Houston. Ya I think spawning season is all the way up early November. They are hitting the food good these days. We setup to feel early morning and in the evening. i just need to get the weeds and what ever it it is growing in the bottom of pond. Added some habitats (PVC) and the float island. Think I read that gills will spawn at 6" every full moon? The bass were hitting everything I fish with mostly small FHM but in the last few weeks sinse in warmed up the gill are also attacking the minnows. Ck pond boss there a guy jignpig in TN that has a 2 acre pond with 10 to 15 pound bass. Now that'll be nice. But again my ponds for the kids 1 to 2 pound fish is all they need. Just waiting on the day one of these little ones hook that 2pd gill and watch the fight lol Hope spring brings you a full stringer.

No problem, Rick, glad to help. Your bluegill are growing fast now so as long as you keep lots of bass in the pond and release the bluegill over 8", you should have some huge ones in another year or so. What part of Texas are you in? That's a big advantage because you have a longer growing season and can feed them closer to year-round.

that sound good I'll check the pond this week > I have added the line and alge clenup. Like you said my pond not big enoth for big bass. And with 2lb bass and 1 1/2 gills will be all I need for the kids. thanks for you insite and information

Just noticed your pond is 3/4 acre - I thought it was a little smaller than that. You could safely keep 150 8 ounce or smaller (7-8") bluegill a year without fishing them out.

As to your question about seining out bluegill once they get overpopulated, I'm not clear why you would want to allow them to overcrowd in the first place. You'd be temporarily helping the bass at the expense of the bluegill; if you decided to get the bluegill back to more optimal conditions and better growth, the bass would lose any benefit they had gotten from the surplus of bluegill, and you would have lost a lot of growth in the bluegill. It sounds like right now you haven't made up your mind what you want to manage the pond for, bluegill or bass, so you're trying to do both, which won't give you the desired results for either.
