Do you love big bluegill?
I have a 5 acre pond with bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. I was thinking about getting a protein based food called Aquafeed to feed the fish in order to keep them fat and healthy. Is this a good…Continue

I caught 4 bluegill Thurs. before I laid my pole down around a post, and went to get my fishing chair. It never got pulled in before when I did this, but it did then. Whatever it was swam all around…Continue

that is nice, we have had rain for the last few days so I have not even had a chance to make it out yet. I would like to, I need to post some new pics.
Well, I'm still trying to catch a bass fish to eat. All I catch are bluegill but they're getting bigger. I think the bass are cleaning up the small ones.
Any updates?
Gotcha, Sharon! Better a confused neighbor than an intervening one.
Actually Dick, it was stuffed potatoes and mustard greens. I baked my fish, Dean fried his. I know you're right walt, he's just an old man, I don't want to insult him. Next time I see him, he will have forgotten what he said, and tell me those are crappies. lol
Good job there Sharon. Looks like they will be good breaded and deep fried with some fries slaw and hush puppies.
You should tell your neighbor to stick to whatever he actually gets paid to do for a living - 'cause he's a little short on his fish knowledge. Coppernose bluegill are indeed a distinct, scientifically recognized sub-species of bluegill, replete with their own Latin scientific name: lepomis machrochirus purpurescens:

If he didn't want catfish taken out of the pond and bass put in, maybe he shouldn't have sold the pond to someone else? I would have told him he was standing on private property and needed to turn around and walk the other way.
My neighbor who used to own my pond came over and told me that coppernose are NOT bluegill. He said these were coppernose (that was before I had any GSF) Hmmm., always thought there were. He is also upset that I put bass in the pond and took the catfish out.
Now you're talking! Nice job!
