I got bored this winter and was browsing through ebay, I saw a creek company odc616 kickboat. I learned that they had been discontinued some years back and had mixed reviews. My curiosity got the best of me and I purchased it for 51.00 dollars. I havent had the opportunity to use it yet but will remedy that some time near the middle of march. it seems okay and might suit the wife better. time will tell...

Hey folks. This float tubing thing looks like great fun, but I don't see myself actually trying it. I'm getting kinda old for that sort of thing, plus the sight of a 14' alligator gives me second thoughts about dangling my legs in the waters where I fish.

I don't want to be seen as a worrywart, but I joined this group specifically to add a cautionary note. I've seen some talk about wind problems with the tubes, but nothing about current. The incident that spurred me to post this is the tragic loss of a young duck hunter just up the road from here. The young man put his float tube into Lake Seminole on Christmas Eve morning(if memory serves) and was caught up in a strong current shortly thereafter. To make a long story not quite so long, he was swept through one of the flood gates on the large power dam almost two miles from his intended hunting area. They gave up the search, at least officially, yesterday evening, after a massive and valient, but fruitless effort. They found some of his gear on the first day, but nothing since. I visited the spot where he launched last Sunday, and the water surface doesn't indicate that there is a current at all, but there obviously is.

I don't discourage anyone from engaging in float-tubing at all. I think it is a great innovation. But y'all be careful where you put them, OK?

I figured since Arizona doesnt have much of a winter I would take a day off and go toonin and take my nephew to try out his Creek company u-boat that he got for x-mas. it wasnt a total skunk and I caught 2 cats and some gills. the air temp was 69 and the water was cold but no idea on the temp. fished for several hours and enjoyed the calm coves.

Hi michael, No, dont do it. wear somthing when you walk. just slip them off and put on your fins when you get to the water!

Michael. You have my attention with this discussion. I use Outcast fins and always have. Many places I fish, I must walk quite a distance ,so use wading boots.
Are you able to walk in without ruining the stocking foot and still use divers fins? ole Mike
