Sinking lines? 5 Replies

i just started fly fishing last year, so I have only used a floating line. If i wanted to fish clousers and streamers, will they get down ok with floating line, or is a sinking line the way to go?

I have fly fished for many years but I have never caught a crappie on the fly. A lot on minnows but never on a fly. I checked in to learn how to catch a few on the long rod.Continue

Caught these the other day on the fly rod, one on a brown clouser, the other on a small 1/80th chartruse jig.
I fly fish for Crappie a lot in out local lakes, especially right now while they are spawning, they are in very shallow waters right now.

Hey Tobias, I have never fished for Crappie the quiet way, I hope you all can teach me some things.

Hey Tobias, I don't flyfish for crappie like the rest of you do. I do flyfish for gills though. I stick with what I know what works for me as far as crappie are concerned. I will be happy to throw my two cents, and am happy to be a part of the group. Nick.
