I have fly fished for many years but I have never caught a crappie on the fly. A lot on minnows but never on a fly. I checked in to learn how to catch a few on the long rod.

for some reason crappies in my area like brown flies.any small nymph type fly in brown.throw right in the brush like you would a minnow and let it sink ,give it a short twitch or strip every few seconds.
